Well done for making it to week 4 of our Jumpstart January challenge. You’ve been doing this for three weeks now, which means you’re well on your way to developing a healthy habit for your business.
Last week we looked at widening your circle so that you can reach out for help and partnership. It’s easier said than done though, particularly if you’re someone who’s used to doing it all yourself. You’ve built your business from the ground up and passing over the care of something you feel so connected to isn’t easy.
We know, we’ve been there.
Week 4 question
This week’s question is designed to get you over this hump.
What do you need to let go of?
Keep an open mind about this question, the thoughts and feelings it might bring up and the people you talk to about it.
2 things to do
- Often in coaching, we need to ask ourselves what’s holding us back. In this instance, we need to question what’s stopping us from asking for help. So sit with this for a while and allow the thoughts to bubble up. Resist the temptation to judge yourself. Note down what you find.
- Investigate the time killers and the time suckers in your business. Where are you not playing to your strengths? Make a list of what you’re doing this week and what moves you forward and at the end of it. The tasks that sap your energy are the ones that you should be passing on.
Your 3 reflections
After you’ve completed the task, look back and ask:
- What have you noticed?
- What have you learned?
- What is your next step?
Make it work for you
The key to this week’s challenge is observation. Look back at the task list and highlight what you love and loathe – what do you notice about yourself when you approach these things? What level of energy do you have and how does it make you feel?
When does procrastination raise its head? How quickly do you get to work and how easily are you knocked of course? Be curious about what’s behind it.
Again, zero judgement here. This is a fact-finding mission.
