How do you feel about last week’s challenge? Take a moment to look back over what you explored and check in with yourself. If you haven’t joined in yet, now’s the time to put aside some time for yourself this week. Remember there’s no business development without personal development.
Always eager to practice what we preach, we posted our progress on LinkedIn last week.
Last week we looked at building trust within our tight inner circle so that we have a firm foundation to grow sustainably. It makes good business sense because nothing is wasted: all our energies go into progress and solution-finding.
Your question for week 3
This week is all about partnerships beyond that circle, so your question is:
Who else can help you achieve your goals?
Often we need to expand our circle of support to reach new heights. This isn’t a time to sit tight and hope for the best. If we’re going to drive forward and write our own narrative for success, we need to have the right people on board our bus – wherever we find them.
So your challenge list this week looks like this
We invite you to:
- Consider your circle of influence – formal or informal, internal or external. Be creative with your list and include suppliers, consultants, advisers, freelancers, friends, family, colleagues and service providers.
- Who has different strengths and skills to you, why are they valuable and where do they fit in the wider picture?
Think back to your statement of intent in week one – what role could people with these aptitudes and experience play in realising it? It’s about partnering with others with your mutual success in mind.
For many these are challenging times and the only thing you can do when you start to flail is to reach out for help. How can you do this if you don’t know who these people are, what they stand for and what their specialisms are? It makes good business (and human) sense to map out your networks so you can find the right kind of support when you need it.
It’s time for reflection again
After you’ve completed the task, look back and ask:
- What have you noticed?
- What have you learned?
- What is your next step?
This part is so important. It can be the key element that takes you from feeling stuck to making an intentional and satisfying move forward.
Make it work for you
If you’ve come this far with us, then well done. You’re over the hump. It takes three weeks to embed new habits so this is a pivotal point. Your commitment, hard work and sometimes brave honesty will pay off, we reassure you.
We’re in this with you
We’ll report back on LinkedIn at the end of the week with our own thoughts and how we found the task.
And next week we’re going to ask an important question to help you expand and utilise the list you made this week – to empower, energise and accelerate your growth.
