Here’s an honest question …

Where do you see yourself in twenty years?

How about five years – or even three months?

  • What kind of balance and integration do you want to see in your life?
  • What lights you up?
  • What catches and keeps your interest?
  • What makes you feel energised, peaceful and connected to others?

When was the last time you stopped to ask yourself these questions – and then took time to listen to the answers? And more importantly, do something with what you hear.

Where did your get-up-and-go go?

In the first days of building a business, you may be so tied up in its success that these things fall by the wayside. You set them aside for so long, that sooner or later you lose touch with them.

Then you hit a brick wall when you realise that you’ve also lost touch with why you started out in the first place. The dreams and aspirations you had to have an impact on the wider community and the world may have got lost in the noise. What’s more, you may feel disconnected from your family, friends, health and personal goals.

Let’s get your buzz back with the One Page Personal Plan

Here are five reasons why it could be just what you need to kick-start 2025:

1.You’ll find your flow

Flow has been labelled the secret to happiness. If you’ve ever been so absorbed in what you’re doing – whether sport, playing music or being creative, you’ll know exactly what this feels like and how difficult it is to describe.

Why is flow so important? When you’re lost in the moment, doing something you love, time means nothing. You’ll put all your effort and energy not just into the finished product but also into the process. It’s a powerful motivator.

2. You’ll be confident enough to delegate and let go

One thing we fight with as we build a business is handing things over – and yet it’s such an important thing to do. It’s impossible to be all things, especially as we scale but we can find fear holding us back. Will others be able to do the job as well?

Here’s the thing – what if it turns out that they can do it better? Meeting these fears head-on and delegating what drains or frustrates us to someone who loves doing them allows them to hit their flow. Isn’t that a great thought?

3. You’ll discover balance and integration

Where there is an imbalance, you’ll find mental or physical strain. Over time, this strain can take its toll, and it’s not a sustainable way to live or run a business.

That’s why the One Page Personal Plan is such a handy tool for making sure every part of your life gets equal billing – but it goes further than that. Rather than making each area discrete, it looks at how you can benefit one part of your life while building another. This fully holistic approach is covered by the five Fs:

  • Friends
  • Family
  • Finances
  • Faith
  • Fitness

And the essential sixth element that we like to add to the list:

  • Fun

Because if you’re not having fun, why are you doing it?

It’s so important to dig down and find out what each one means for you.

4. You’ll uncover the gift of ritual

When you’re learning something new, it takes conscious thought and energy – and no more so than when you’re learning new routines and habits. To make things easier on yourself, use what you’ve highlighted in your plan to develop new rituals.

Then they’re a natural part of your routine, whether that’s planning regular dates with your spouse/partner or putting a regular meet-up with friends in the diary, you’ll have something to look forward to and fewer missed opportunities.

Don’t forget the value of personal rituals too, like journaling. It gives you an opportunity to acknowledge what you’ve accomplished down to the very tiny details. This easily develops into gratitude, which expands into a desire for more and then loops into planning.

5. You’ll give yourself the green light (or red, or amber)

This leads easily to one of our most popular coaching tools: Stop, Start and Continue. By assessing what puts you in flow, what you can let go of, what you want to integrate and how you’ll secure these into your routines, you’ll have a picture of what you want to cultivate and what you’ll want to release.

Use the traffic light system across your five Fs plus one to plan how you’re going to bring your discoveries and priorities to life to achieve your goals.
