Hi, it’s Phil here. My turn to give my reflections on what a year we’ve had.
It’s been a rollercoaster here at Ignium – and by that, I mean a rollercoaster of the fun variety.
We’ve worked on some great projects, developed relationships with some wonderful new clients, rekindled relationships with past clients and further developed our relationships with existing clients.
On top of that, we’ve also worked with some great team players as partners to Ignium. Without the team, we wouldn’t be where we are today!
Looking back over the past 12 months is a great way to track progress – but doing it yearly isn’t enough! To benefit we need to track progress on a more frequent basis. This year we’ve continued to run our combination of annual and quarterly meetings for clients who want to stay on top of their game and scale their business. That’s also what we’re aiming to do at Ignium.
Kerry and I first conceived the idea of building a business that focuses on PURPOSE back in 2018 but Ignium is the culmination of over ten years previously working and talking together. Like any great team, we both bring our strengths to the partnership. Kerry is organised, dynamic, driven and on top of her game. She’s an extremely talented strategic people person who gets stuff done. We complement each other in our approach to our work and clients.
This year has seen us develop more of our ‘Scaling Up’ expertise by working with teams and individuals within them. The aim is to reduce the drama, enhance their growth and engage their people. We’ve also worked with senior teams to help them better align with each other and build all-important trust. This is a common thread we’ve seen from a number of teams we work with.
At the end of the day, we all want to develop deeper relationships because ultimately we know that building a deeper level of trust builds a better culture – and that leads to better results long term.
At Ignium we’ve partnered with some great people and businesses to achieve our aims – a key part of our commitment to walk our talk.
After all, we’re a people business and that’s what builds relationships.
So, what have we done, and who has helped us?
We’ve got great coaches who work to support our clients with their questions – we like to think
of it as a combination of challenge AND support.
Then there are the folk who help us get our message out there
- Amanda for her copywriting common sense.
- Sassy for her podcast creation skills – she has worked with us for the last three years to really help each podcast episode sound the best it can.
- Behind the scenes we have Rose pulling things together and making sure we’re in the right place at the right time.
Talking of podcasts, this is something that has really engaged us and helped to enhance (and build) our community this year. When we started the podcast in December 2019 we weren’t too sure how it would go. Now, four years on we’re still here and loving the conversations we’re able to have live on Sparks by Ignium. I am ever grateful for the wonderful guests we’ve talked to who have shared their stories and insights. Many of those conversations are also now on our YouTube channel – another development we’re proud of this year.
In finishing up, I want to come back to the P word. Purpose really is what bonds us together if we want to create a better place to work, live and be.
Running a business is more fun when everyone is aligned and believes in the same thing. That’s what purpose does. It helps attract and retain the right people who want to work together because they know that through being part of something bigger than them individually they can do more for the world.
I come back to the work of Jim Collins in Good to Great – the key to success is getting the right
people with the right skills in the right seats on the right bus.
That’s what we do at Ignium. We’re not about playing small. We want to work as a team, delivering great work that changes people and lives.
So, as I wrap up my reflections for 2023 I want to thank everyone who has worked with us.
Together we’re helping more businesses engage more people for the better and that’s what really matters!
Enjoy your Christmas break!
