Dear Successful Business Owner, entrepreneur and leader,
Whether you’re hiking, running or swimming you’re more likely to push through uncertainty and tough times if you’ve settled into a pace.
Business is no different.
Recently we’ve been looking at the Rockefeller Habits and this issue I want to talk about the third one:
‘Communication rhythm is established and information moves through the organisation accurately and quickly’.
This involves listening to and talking with the people on your team on a regular basis. Notice patterns, get ahead of trends and pick up on bottlenecks before they become a problem by checking in regularly.
Keep these three things in mind:
- Make sure everyone is included. With more people working from home and even at different times, how are you going to maintain daily contact with your teams?
- A daily 15-minute huddle with a clear agenda can resolve a lot of issues there and then. Paced and focused, it’s an energetic way to make sure everyone is up to speed.
- Start with a round of good news to lift the mood and give everyone the chance to share the main task they’re working on that day along with any ‘aha’ moments they’ve had. That way we can all find opportunities to pay it forward in supporting each other.
Verne Harnish, author of the Rockefeller Habits says that ‘Routine sets you free’. That’s why his principles are based on keying into regular beats, so everyone knows what they’re doing, nothing gets missed and everyone keeps up.
Want to know more about the other streamlining rhythms and how they work? Join the Scaling Up Master Business course in September and receive a wealth of learning materials and useable worksheets that you can use straight away.
They’re a powerful tool in turbulent times.
Have a great day…
Phil
