Dear Business Owner, entrepreneur, leader, CEO (or whatever it is you choose to call yourself… the name doesn’t matter but the way you do what you do and why you do it does!)
Good morning and welcome to this edition of our tiny sparks emails, written to kindle little thoughts into big ideas.
We’re going to start with my favourite topic: scaling your business with purpose. Back in 2019, I wrote a booklet called 75 tips for developing a business strategy that works (it was too long 🙂 I know) and so I’ve chosen 7 of these to share with you here.
Think about how each can add value to you and your business:
- Establish your personal why – without one you’re just going through the motions and if it doesn’t interest you, why would it interest anyone else?
- Pick your A-team – because you’re not going to win with the B-team.
- Understand your niche and client needs – what human need does your product or service answer? How will you help people to gain pleasure or solve their pain?
- Take a step back to size things up – what’s going on in the world and where do you fit in? Where do you stand out?
- Your choices matter – decide what you need to be great at in order to succeed and then go do it. Create options for your business and then make informed choices.
- Prioritise where you place your energy – you’ve taken time to understand your why, what your clients want and what your unique talents are. Now it’s time to look at the market.
- Close the gap – what needs to be worked on to close the gap between where you want to be and where you are now? Think in terms of the things around you like machinery, systems and structure.
It’s a lot to take in and if you’re already a busy business owner, probably a bit overwhelming if you consider each of these questions, but there are just four basic questions you need to consider to scale your business with purpose and I’m delighted to be able to share them with you again over the coming months.
To help you get there, we’re launching the first European cohort of the Scaling Up Master Business Course with Verne Harnish, the Growth Institute, and in collaboration with Scaling Up coaches, Dominic Monkhouse and Karol Popa – Scaling Up Coach.
